Bottom Of Left Foot Is Numbing

California, beer paradise: Part 2 - San Diego

Here is our Top 5 microbreweries in the region with only a small tasting room at the brasserie. Their beers are distributed in bottles rather good shops in the vicinity and also on tap in bars beer. Although it may be interesting to visit each of these breweries and their respective industrial districts are not nearly as attractive as most other places where we can find their products.

Alesmith Brewing
Although this microbrewery enjoys a solid reputation on the websites of U.S. RateBeer and BeerAdvocate, its beers are being distributed very little, even around San Diego. All of its ales, the X
cleverly fruity Pale Ale with the heady Wee Heavy , the effervescent lemon IPA to Speedway Stout (Imperial Stout in a sumptuous coffee), all done with aplomb. Fortunately for us who can not regularly visit California, beers Alesmith mysteriously appear on the shelves of some retailers in Massachusetts in recent years ...

Alpine Brewing
So several breweries in the U.S. west coast swell the fourquet with beers increasingly heavy and extreme, Alpine decided to focus on Pale Ales and India Pale Ales dry, always approachable. Their flagship beer, the Alpine Ale
serves flavors malt biscuits and slightly honeyed arranged to hops with notes of citrus and herbs. Their Pure Hoppiness is equally enticing, even if under 3% alcohol more. Hops stand out brilliantly, but does not seem aggressive. Strongly more breweries like Alpine rally who know beer lovers lovers gently flavored taste intensity.

PS: You'll understand that this brewery has nothing to do with the Alpine of New Brunswick. ;)

Ballast Point Brewing
Once a closely guarded secret, this brew has inspired decided to leave its ground recently in order to shine the creations of its brewmaster on a wider stage. Their breathtaking
Sculpin IPA has everything to impress the scout India Pale Ales most demanding. Can not praise too dry for their Victory at Sea Imperial Porter , incredibly rich. And the brewer is not limited to popular styles of the West Coast. Very inventive, you can see on the pumps of India Pale Lagers, ales sour fruit other aged in barrels of rum house, and more.

The Lost Abbey / Port Brewing
Tomme Arthur's dream realized. In recent years, its pots of Pizza Port Solana Beach became the old tanks from Stone Brewing in San Marcos (see first part of this guide for information on each facility) and dozens of oak barrels in the backyard the pizzeria became a factory filled with nearly 600 wooden barrels of various origins. In this playground, Tomme and his team concoct a plethora of ales all as elegant as each other: API of all kinds (of course), tasty stouts and ales to Belgian styles on the menu alongside sleek creations like a Black Barley Wine (the Old Viscosity ), a Quadrupel with cherries with Brettanomyces (the Cuvée de Tomme ) and more intriguingly acid beers inspired by Belgian lambic (Framboise di Amarosa , Duck Duck Gooze , Red Poppy , etc..). We say "genius so near perfect execution, no of the style brewed. A "must" among the "musts". Oh, and barley wine, the Angel's Share , could commit any number of infidelities lovers of good old Thomas Hardy's Ale .

Green Flash Brewing
Yet another brewery in the county north of San Diego who knows impress each brew, almost. His West Coast IPA
has nothing to envy to those of Stone, his Barley Wine seems to be a cousin of the sublime Sierra Nevada Bigfoot and Hop Head Red can boast of being the "red" the most charming of the region. With all too much Stouts plump one than the other Belgian styles packed with character - but not too authentic, though - and a range of strong ale aged in oak barrels, Green Flash deserves to be on the list purchases while visiting the region taster of San Diego, as well as the best-known brewers of the United States. The list is long, is not it?

Next stop for the travel guide: you climb slowly towards the north ... and is entangled in Los Angeles.
